In 2017 we made £1924 from model rail shows (after costs) and from donations and money from The London Theatre who sponsor us.
From this £324 was spent on getting DBS checks for our volunteers, who needed them to work with Children and certain adults (note - note all volunteers need a DBS check)
Public and employers liability insurance £356
Tax and insurance for groups van £568
Water pump and oil change for van £210
Website and domain £74
leaflets & flyers £46
4 x oval track donations and controllers plus baseboard £74 These went to local community groups to get them started on building layouts
TOTAL SPEND £1714
We had a surplus of £210 which we used to pay the deposit on one of our 2018 shows and bought stock and materials for another layout which will be ready to exhibit in the summer of 2018.
We are not a charity but hope soon to apply for charitable status
FREE MEMBERSHIP! Yes that is correct, One of the first model railway groups in the UK to offer its members FREE MEMBERSHIP.
All we ask in return is you give up one day a year to help show some of the groups layouts at community events, retirement homes, charity events and help promote this great hobby.
You don't need to own a model railway layout, come and join and help on other members railways or help with the clubs three layouts at events.
Most of the community events happen over the weekdays and evenings and we have been asked to attend special events at primary schools to help with projects and at present actively promoting secondary schools into starting their own school model railway clubs.
We also plan group trips to model railway exhibitions and days out to real preserved railways and transport rallies.
We have our own van built to carry three layouts and we raise money at some shows we run for the upkeep and insurance of this van and the build of new layouts and publicity and to promote this hobby and extend the membership.
A model railway group with a difference!
The sole aim of our group is to promote this great hobby to new people and to take Model Railways to new communities plus at the same time have great social meetings at our base venue, with a well stocked bar and we are open to all both beginners and experienced model railway fans.
Our meeting nights are social nights where you can chat about model railways, maybe a short demo can be organised on a aspect of model railways or bring along a small item your working on to show others.
We meet once a month at the London Theatre in the Borough of Lewisham where we can park for free outside The Theatre on warm nights, has a 50ft roof garden with power for some outdoor running of the layouts or laying down track. There is a well stocked bar and 2 minutes from New Cross BR and on major bus routes.
